Oyster Tour Boat Captain

Location: Bayview

Rate: $23 – $27/hr 

Schedule: Flexible hours, evenings and weekends

Position Type: Part-Time, Seasonal, mid-June to mid-September

Job Description:
This role is ideal for an experienced mariner looking for casual summer employment. The Captain assists the Tour Guide in delivering tours in New London Bay, and is responsible for operating the tour boat, ensuring guest and crew safety, and providing excellent customer service.

Working Conditions:

  • Working on small vessel in all weather conditions
  • Must be physically fit and able to lift average weight, and would be comfortable being exposed to the sun for an extended period of time
  • Routinely inspecting all areas of the vessel for unsafe conditions, complete incident reports, and make safety announcements to ensure the safety and comfort of the crew and passengers
  • Maintaining a clean and tidy workplace; cleaning and resetting the boat in between tours and tidying up the boat at the end of the day

Skill Requirements:

  • Proven experience operating commercial vessels
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Friendly, welcoming and professional
  • Enjoys interacting with visitors from diverse backgrounds
  • Calm and adaptable in a busy, seasonal environment

Assets:

  • Local knowledge of Prince Edward Island
  • Practical marine skills (maintenance, docking, navigation)
  • Experience in tourism industry
